Just like the ice in the photograph, everything looks to be in place with a stress fracture, but applying a bit of extra pressure could spell disaster! Stress fractures are a common sporting injury and can be seen in a variety of places in the lower limb. Theoretically, they can occur in any bone, but the are most often seen in the 2nd metatarsal (the long bone that runs toward your ankle from your toe next to the big toe), the heel bone and the shin bone.
